Cell Phones In Theaters – Ban or Not To Ban

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

In today’s world it is easier to count those who do not have a cell phone than it is to count those that do. Children in Elementary school and even younger carry cell phones. The latest cell phones give you the ability to:

View or take pictures View or capture video Surf the internet Text message Email And most have a variety of other features.

The newest discussions however aren’t about how great a cell phone, but on the disturbance it brings to others. You can’t walk block without passing someone who is talking or yelling into their cell phone.

Now in movie theaters, it is becoming more and more annoying as other patrons don’t bother to turn off or mute their cell phones. There are two sides of the argument. Should we ban cell phones in theaters or not?

Pros:

Banning cell phones or using a device to block their signal will mean no more annoying ringing throughout a movie. No one yapping on their phone as if they don’t realize that a few hundred other people just paid to watch the movie like they did. The sense of joy that the only sound now besides the movie is the idiot who wants to loudly discuss every scene to the person to them.

Cons:

Banning or blocking cell phones is a good way to give customers a break from all the ringing and annoyances throughout the movie, however there is the problem of not receiving an important call.

A doctor for instance won’t get calls from a hospital that needs them to come right away, endangering patients lives. People in business who needs to know what’s going on every second of every day with their business, won’t get that important call if something is going wrong.

What about this one? Someone in your family has been hurt or killed and you won’t find that out until you leave the theaters. How are you going to feel knowing that you just spent two hours watching a movie and wasn’t able to find out that someone you love needed you?

The National Association of Theatre Owners are fed up with the cell phone calls and have reported that some individual theaters have experimented with cell phone bans.

Also some studios block phones during unreleased movie screenings to prevent people from taping a movie with the phones. Some professionals have reported that they would stop going to the movies if this ban or block were to take place.

If people think that a ban can’t happen they should remember that just last year France’s government gave theater owners permission to block cell phones. However this is only when you go in to watch the movie itself and not in the lobby and waiting areas.

As with anything there will always be the few that ruins it for those who follow the rules and are considerate of others. Unfortunately the good usually has to suffer with the bad.

I don’t know what the individual States plan to do about the cell phone issue, but until then, everyone needs to remember that they are not the only people on the planet. Put your cell phone on vibrate and stop disturbing the rest of us.

What Fantastic Things Will Often Help to Reduce Baldness in Men

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

The most annoying part of baldness for guys is that there is no sure fire cure. Baldness has been a major problem for blokes all over the United Kingdom but there are wonderful treatments that can often reduce further hair loss.

There is a topical treatment for baldness called Minoxidil that might be taken in tablet or lotion form and might well help lads regrow their hair and reduce further baldness. The baldness lotion comes in a variety of strengths with 2 percent being the most popular. The baldness treatment is used under the watchful eye of a doctor and should be made aware that the baldness treatment is not a marvellous miracle cure. However, the terrific success of this hair loss treatment is approx fifty percent. The hair loss treatment medication course is a minimum of four months before tremendous results may show and all lads are recommended to continue the hair loss treatment for at least nine months to a year.

For lads that don?t note any hair regrowth with Minoxidil they can often try hair transplant surgery. Hair loss surgery is a permanent solution and involves moving the hair follicles on the head to reduce bald areas. Hair transplants can be expensive and involves a medical procedure so may not be for every male.

Looking for an Alternative to Microsoft Office? You Should Be!

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Now is the time to look at an alternative to Microsoft Office.

Are you locked into using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint? Are you spending extra because you need a database, and Access does not come with the basic Office package?

Well, the time has come to look at alternatives, or at least the one Ill discuss here in a few moments. Whether you are a writer on a tight budget, but need to send your submittals in Word format or an employee wanting to do work at home without either paying hundreds of dollars for Office or installing an illegal copy at home, there are inexpensive options.

(Just as an aside, do NOT ever install or use unlicensed software from Microsoft or anyone else. It is simply not worth the headaches, including huge fines and possible jail time. And if you take a copy home from the office, you may lose your job.)

How much would you pay for office productivity software with these features?

o runs on Windows (R), just like Microsoft Office

o all files can be saved in Microsoft Office formats

o a word processor

o a spreadsheet

o a presentation tool

o a database

o a drawing tool

o export to Acrobat PDF format (requires third-party add ins to do this in Microsoft Office)

o save in Flash format (.SWF) for use on the Web; this cannot be done at all in Microsoft Office

Are you interested yet? Want to know the price?

FREE.

For more information, visit the OpenOffice site: http://www.openoffice.org

How can this be? Well, there is a movement among programmers around the world referred to as open source. I wont bore you with great detail, but the idea is that programmers from all over will donate their time to working on a specific product (in this case, OpenOffice) and leaving it in the public domain. You may have heard of the Linux operating system; it is still the most famous open source collaboration.

Just as RedHat and SuSE, among others, take Linux and add tools to make it easier to use, Sun Microsystems has StarOffice available starting at $79.95. This includes limited technical support (OpenOffice does not have technical support.) This is still a bargain, and Sun sponsors OpenOffice. In case you are not familiar with Sun, they are a very solid Silicon Valley company, primarily known for their workstations and inventing the Java programming language.

Instead of upgrading to Office 2003, I recommend at least investigating the OpenOffice option. Whether a home user or a business with hundreds of copies of Office installed, it just makes sense.

After all, it is free!

See Eagles on Safari

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

For those women that have never before experienced a walking safari in Africa may find it difficult to imagine the magnificent wildlife you might well come up close with. The people who come to a wildlife safari are regular holiday makers like you and me, some are into photography, some holiday makers are into animals but all of them are interested in a new phenomenal experience.

The outstanding thing about a walking safari is the fact it is so different from a package holiday to Ibiza, there are very little children. Each business will give you an English speaking tourist guide to take you through the magnificent areas of Africa. The most popular African animals you will see are cheetahs. All of these eye-opening animals are not tame and of course don?t scare them. If you are interested in taking wildlife photos of the giraffes you should make sure you turn off the flash as you do not want to scare the animals. The spectacular animals in South Africa can put a grin on your face.

If you would love to ascertain more about stunning safari holidays in Southern Africa you will often use the search engines to note a safari company that offers holidays from the UK, the costs might often range from two hundred pounds to 700 pounds. Kaingo are one of the UK’s newest African Safari providers.

Scan the Astonishing Male Sex Equipment Guide with Retailer Sex

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Selecting a male sex toy for the very first time will be a little bit daunting and a scary experience. But once you have got your 1st male marital aid and been on it you might soon know what you enjoy and do not love as with just about everything in life. Learn a few ideas.

If you would like to have a thicker penis and you would like your sex sessions to last longer and be awesome then try out the penis enlargers on the market. The penis vacuum is a great sex toy and when used with penis enlargement creams can extremely make your tool look much longer and feel wonderful. You could also use penis enlarger pills to go along with the penis enlarger cream and pump. Male sexual aids have regularly been on the slow side until this Christmas when the marital aid manufacturers are releasing some of the most realistic marital aids available on the market.

A must for all men is buying the right lubricant. The most likeable lubes with guys are water based as they might be used with condoms. Also, pick an awesome sexual lubricant so it does not damage the material of your male sex toys. For those men that are trigger happy try a delay spray to help you last longer in the bedroom. Butt Plugs are always great fun with lube!

Microsoft RMS – Great Plains Integration – Overview For IT Specialist

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Retail Management System (Microsoft RMS) are getting new market share due to the Microsoft strong marketing campaign. Both products: Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft RMS are coming from the same Microsoft subdivision – Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS), however due to the fact that both products were bought by Microsoft from different vendors, the integration between the two is not an easy thing. At this time MBS has RMS integration on the General Ledger and Purchase Order level into Great Plains out of the box. This integration has some advancements in comparison to old product: QuickSell, but it is still GL and PO only. We do understand the need for midsize and large retail companies, structured as clubs and selling on account to their members to have more adequate integration when you can synchronize your Sales information and have robust Great Plains reporting.
There is the product on the market, which is integration on the Receivables Management level from RMS to Great Plains, written by Daniel Sionov and Andrew Karasev and maintained by the alliance between LightEdge Solutions (www.lightedge.com) and Alba Spectrum Technologies (www.albaspectrum.com). In Alba Spectrum Technologies we actually do coding and product tuning for specific client needs.

If you are developer you can end up with your own custom solution, we would like to give you directions.

1. Great Plains Integration Manager – if the sales volume is very low, say 100 transactions per day – then you can do data export from RMS and import it into Great Plains via Integration Manager. This is rather end-user tool – it is very intuitive, it validates 100% of business logic, brings in/updates master records (accounts, employees, customers, vendors. etc.) brings in transactions into work tables. The limitation of Integration Manager – it does use GP windows behind the scenes without showing them – so it is relatively slow – you can bring 100 records – but when you are talking about thousands – it is not a good option. By the way you can program Integration Manager with VBA.

2. eConnect – You can create VB.Net application which will be pulling info from RMS and then uses eConnect to move it to Great Plains. eConnect is kind of Software Development Kit with samples in VB.Net. Obviously the development environment should be Visual Studio.Net. eConnect will allow you to integrate master records – such as new customers, vendors, employees, etc., plus you can bring transactions into so called Great Plains work tables (eConnect doesn’t allow you to bring open or historical records – you need to post work records in Great Plains, the same limitation applies to Integration Manager above) eConnect is rather for ongoing integration. It was initially created for eCommerce application integration to Great Plains.

3. SQL Stored Procedures. The product we’ve mentioned above is collection of stored procs. Obviously you have unlimited control and possibilities with SQL queries. You need to know Retail Management System Headquarters and Great Plains tables structure and data flow. Launch Great Plains and go to Tools->Resource Description->Tables. Find the table in the proper series. If you are looking for the customers – it should be RM00101 – customer master file. If you need historical Sales Order Processing documents – they are in SOP30200 – Sales History Header file, etc. Do not change existing tables – do not create new fields, etc. Also you need to realize that each GP table has DEX_ROW_ID – identity column. Sometimes it is good idea to use inbound/outbound XML in the parameters – then you can deploy web service as a middle party between two systems. RMS tables structure is self explanatory.

4. Data Transformation Services (DTS) – Good tool for importing your third party data into staging tables in GP – then you can pull them in using either stored procs of Integration Manager. You can also deploy this tool for EDI export/import.

5. Great Plains Dexterity Custom Screens. You can create the window, which will have integration settings in it – RMS store ID matching GP Company database, etc. Sometimes users prefer to have seamlessly integrated into GP interface custom screens – for parameters settings and initiating integration. Dexterity is a good option, however remember – it is always better to create new custom screen versus customizing existing one – due to the future upgrade issues. Also – Dexterity is in phasing our by Microsoft Business Solutions.

6. Modifier/VBA custom buttons on the existing screens – alternative to Dexterity is you are comfortable with VBA and ADO.
Happy integrating! if you want us to do the job or use our product – give us a call 1-866-528-0577! help@albaspectrum.com

Andrew Karasev is Chief Technology Officer in Alba Spectrum Technologies – USA nationwide Microsoft CRM, Microsoft Great Plains customization company, based in Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, New York, and Miami and having locations in multiple states and internationally (www.albaspectrum.com), he is Dexterity, SQL, VB/C#.Net, Crystal Reports and Microsoft CRM SDK developer.

The PropertyIndex.com Company – the Fresh-Faced Multi National Real Estate Information Site

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Even if the Property Index online service is only a new kid on the block company, doing business only since March 2007, they were very fast to establish themselves. They are a quite cool company devoted to catering to anyone determined to rent, buy, etc. real estate assets in a global environment. Their avowal is to help you out light on dead-on what you want very quickly and, of course, without pain.

Property is easily available in most parts of the world currently, arguably the hippest area being property available for sale in Dubai. It’s no big challenge to tick off the fun real property for sale in Dubai, the motivation for looking for property here is a combination of the houses and apartments on the market and the good possibility to live between such a bouncing people.

It’s one of the truly fashionable regions currently, and in view of the overall attractiveness and the great weather surrounding you here, how could you be wrong. Property in Dubai is immersed in culture, art and history, this region is and has always been home to lots of indigenous nations.

Some 30 years ago you would find a mere dribble of Englishmen in search of real property in Dubai. Ask anyone who has chosen to remove to Dubai and they will tell you the same thing. Quite a few people would tend to view it as a craze and others tend to view it as a that’s quite an infatuation… The people keen on moving to this place range from yuppie couples who are looking for a bit of a new challenge in life to pensioners who are looking to enjoy themselves and have a break.

Note that there could well be snags when buying real property overseas: it stands to reason that there are 100s of steps to ponder be it when brainstorming, paying a visit or signing up. If you only miss just a single minor procedure that is sure to definitely provoke wide-reaching snags and, more important, loss of money.

As is to be expected with this popular area, real property might well be fairly pricey in this area and that’s just a consequence of the growing demand. In spite of this the buyer definitely is spoilt in terms of choice in a part of the world so determined by splendid landscape and beaming surroundings. Certainly it offers the whole enchilada any of us may desire etc.

Property Index is an online platform that gives buyers access to thousands of properties www.propertyindex.com. Property in Dubai is currently booming so browse the range on offer at Property Index.

Webhosting Reseller Programs – Look Before You Leap!

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

So, you’re considering reselling and you need the straight scoop on it?

There are so many hosting companies, all claiming to be the best deal, and all telling you that you’ll make more money reselling their services. Who’s to trust? Which is best?

Hopefully you have questions about the business itself. How does this all work? How do I set my prices? How do I market the product? What works? What doesn’t? Who is my competition?

My name is Larry Dozier, and I am part owner of a primary web presence provider business. In real English, that means I partially own and operate a web hosting company. I started out in the Hosting Industry by reselling accounts for another company. Today, we operate our own servers and have a reseller program of our own.

This has given me a unique view of both sides of the reselling coin.

How you choose to run your reselling business will depend, primarily, on how you answer the following 3 questions:

1. Will reselling be your primary or secondary focus? 2. Once you sell a hosting account, will you retain control of the website it houses? I.e., you are the designer and will maintain the site. 3. Will you be marketing online, or to your current clients?

How you determine your pricing structure will hinge on how you answered these three questions.

If you will be offering hosting to existing clients as an added service, you can, generally, charge more than if you were marketing exclusively online.

When an individual purchases web hosting online, they take a risk. Perhaps their newfound host will be a top-notch outfit with superb tech support, reliable servers and excellent prices. On the other hand, perhaps they will find themselves in the middle of a horrendous tale of inadequacy.

But, if this same individual already has an existing business relationship with you, a person they already trust, much of the fear is removed. This reduction of risk, worry and stress is worth a premium. Ask any website owner if they would rather pay a little more for reliability, or stay up at night worrying about their website.

Another factor in deciding your prices is cost. Your number one cost will not be the wholesale price you pay your provider. Your number one cost will be your time. What is it worth, and how much time is involved?

If you answered yes to question number 2, your time investment will be minimal. Customer support is a huge time expenditure, especially if you do it right. By being both the host and the site administrator, you come out way ahead.

Finally, you must look at your competition. In order to do this properly, you must determine which market you will be competing in.

In general, there are two markets for web hosting services. These are the online market and the local market.

If you choose to market online, you will be forced to keep prices extrememly low. You will also incur some fairly heavy customer support costs. Because your prices will be lower, so will your profit margin. This means one thing – VOLUME.

For the online operator, automation is crucial. The more streamlined your system, the higher your profits and the lower your blood pressure.

Let me interject one thing here, while we’re talking about marketing. Streamlined does not mean neglecting your customers. A little consideration goes a long ways in this business. If you answer your customers emails, return their calls, take time to listen to them, you’ll build a large base of loyal customers in no time at all.

Regardless of your marketing approach, there is one more huge question to answer before you begin.

Who will you be reselling for?

When choosing an upstream provider, pay particular attention to the three R’s:

* Reliability * Resalability * Relationship

The company you resell for should, above all else, be impeccably reliable.

Consider this scenario:

It’s 2 A.M. on a Wednesday morning. Your phone rings. It’s your most valued client, and his website is down. You quickly check your email, and find several more pleas for help. You dash off a quick email to your upstream provider.

It’s 6 A.M. No answer from your provider.

It’s 2 P.M. You receive a garbled email from your provider. Something about a relay that went down in Kentucky, and it’s completely beyond their control.

It’s 6 P.M. The server is still down. You seriously consider taking your own telephone off the hook. You wonder if you’ll be able to keep half your clients. You realize, with a sick feeling in your gut, that there is nothing you can do. You have placed your credibility in the hands of a company that is not returning your calls.

Hopefully, this scenario drives home the fact that when problems occur, you can do little more than call your provider. It’s crucial that your provider be reliable.

Resalability comes next on the list. Take a good look at the product. Can you sell it? Would you buy it yourself? Are there plenty of features and selling points?

Finally, consider the relationship you have with your provider. Can you call the company and talk to a real person? The same person each time? Do they remember your name? Do they answer your emails promptly? Remember that your upstream provider is the only link between you and the server. Having a strong working relationship is vital to the success of your business.

Reselling web services can be an extremely profitable solution, but, like any other business, you will do best if you do your homework before jumping in.

Good Luck!
