Incidental Learning via Playing with Toys

Everybody wants their little ones to be brought up with a good education to give them not only a great vocation, but also to hand them a good apprehension of how the world functions so they can make the most of their lives. Thing is, there seems to be this permanent struggle of dividing your kids away from their toys or the gogglebox to get them to do their homework. In schoolhouses it appears that the fun is taken out of studying, so it’s not really a shock that children are bored. There is a solution however! Rather than this unneeded detachment of studying and having fun, it’s better to fuse the two up and make it a pleasure to study.

Youngsters learn a lot more when they either realize a practical function as to why they’re studying something, OR if learning is simply good fun.

For example: give the youngsters 26 blocks, representing 26 letters of the alphabet. Then ask them to construct a pillar from the blocks that spells out a particular word. They’re having fun and attempting to make block towers not flop over while learning to spell.

It’s now accepted that once you build the groundwork for a certain subject (for instance geography), kids are more nonresistant to becoming interested in it later on in life. If you just sit them down, have them face a blackboard, and then tell them to listen to the instructor droning on, you’re more likely to encourage daydreaming than learning.

What form of playthings should you get your youngsters? Nowadays there’s a massive range of toys. Always remember that kids love to play with almost anything, even a cardboard box! From traditional wooden toys to computer games, so long as the focus is on studying and encouraging your children to become more inquisitive (which furthers self-learning).
